“These are facts. This financial crisis was completely preventable. The party that blocked any attempt to prevent it was... the Democratic Party. The party that tried to prevent it was... the Republican Party. Yet when Nancy Pelosi accused the Bush administration and Republican deregulation of causing the crisis, you in the press did not hold her to account for her lie. Instead, you criticized Republicans who took offense at this lie and refused to vote for the bailout! What? It’s not the liar, but the victims of the lie who are to blame? Now let’s follow the money... right to the presidential candidate who is the number-two recipient of campaign contributions from Fannie Mae. And after Freddie Raines, the CEO of Fannie Mae who made $90 million while running it into the ground, was fired for his incompetence, one presidential candidate’s campaign actually consulted him for advice on housing. If that presidential candidate had been John McCain, you would have called it a major scandal and we would be getting stories in your paper every day about how incompetent and corrupt he was. But instead, that candidate was Barack Obama, and so you have buried this story, and when the McCain campaign dared to call Raines an ‘adviser’ to the Obama campaign—because that campaign had sought his advice—you actually let Obama’s people get away with accusing McCain of lying, merely because Raines wasn’t listed as an official adviser to the Obama campaign. You would never tolerate such weasely nit-picking from a Republican. If you who produce our local daily paper actually had any principles, you would be pounding this story, because the prosperity of all Americans was put at risk by the foolish, short-sighted, politically selfish, and possibly corrupt actions of leading Democrats, including Obama.” —Orson Scott Card, Democrat columnist

I was very surprised when our local paper endorsed John McCain. It is a member of the Gannett chain, a hotbed of liberalism if there ever was one.

It may have something to do with the demographics of the area, mostly blue collar and although many blacks and Hispanics, I don't think many of them vote.

This whole campaign has had a vigorous attempt to influence the outcome by much of the supposedly impartial media.

As the days pass, the libs are becoming increasingly vociferous and strident, and truth seems to be consigned to the trash heap. I just watched one of them on Fox, acting like a jerk and changing the subject continuously.

Unfortunately there is this nagging realiztion that most of the people are sucked in by the Idea of "change" without realizing what a disaster they endorse.

By all means follow the money, the billions sent to washington by lobbyists for the big money boys to get the ok to cram truckloads of unstable mortgages up the collective butts of unsuspecting investors.

In addition to following it, get it back. and put the perps in jail. Fa cryin out loud, stealing 3 dollars from a candy machine gets more punishment than these bastards.

    (I know it won't happen)

The camel was weak from carrying a huge manure pile of steaming credit card obligations in addition to questionable mortgages, and much of the debt represents goods that has been consumed and is gone already.

The other shoe has yet to drop. They can try and prop it up all they want, but they are almost out of sticks. You can only print so much money before it becomes worthless.

They got 60 per cent of my account already, and I hope I can hang on till this works itself out. If you didn't cash out by September, better stay in for the long haul.

Halfmile sorry to hear you are almost wiped out, you are not alone, millions out there getting wiped daily.....

problem with hanging in for the problem to work itself out is only ok if you are 50 or younger...too late for the older generation, time is not on their side.

Meanwhile the dicks that caused the problems are being rewarded with bailouts, fresh cash and re election.....

Do you think America has a problem....

    You think.....

SHAME on the biased media.....SHAME on you. If I were your Grandmother I'd be cutting a hickory switch to fire your backside up. What a shame on the media business almost as a whole. What a discrace to the United States.
