    Jonny came up with a good question. Where would you rather to Ill or Tx to shoot at the Grand. Ill is an anti gun state and looks like they are trying to pull the rug out of us. TX is a gun friendly state who DID OPEN THEIR ARMS for us to come there. With a pretty good deal to boot.

    So where would you all like to have had the GRAND PLACED? TX or Ill?

    I say TX.

    Illinois. They built it for us - all we needed to supply was the traps. An amazing deal and in the end, you move where the money tells you to move and we did. Now it's the finest trapshooting facility in the world and the ATA - besides having the benefit of it - has ten million they didn't have to spend and is debt-free. Therefore, obviously, it was the right decision which is why it passed on January 8, 2004 in vote by an informed Board of Directors by an overwhelming majority:

    Yea = 46

    Nay = 6

    I like Sparta, the facility, the people, & the food (especially Susie's in Red Bud).

    So far, never a problem finding lodging.

    I go to shoot, so not having a Mall to shop there (we have too many in Tampabay) is fine with me.

    I have been to Sparta and it is a great facility. What club in Texas would be compare to Sparta as far as number of traps, camp grounds etc.

    I have never shot in Texas so I am unfamiliar with the facilities they have available.

    Thanks

    Shawn

    If all was true as Neil Stated why wasn't the vote Unanamous? There had to be some doubt there.

    SPARTA is a great spot. Illinois is not anti gun, just a couple of Counties. I recall that Ohio made dove hunting illegal at one time so should we not shoot there? How about a one time Prairie Dog ban..don't shoot in Colorado. Come on people, it is not worthy of a discussion. Move on and come to THE Grand this year and shoot the entire program or one event...just come and shoot.

    Neil was there and a 2:1 vote is significan margin!

    Remember, the Board had all of the FACTS and as well informed as you may think some people are, they were not there and they did not have the responsibilities that the Board did and still have. Give everyone a break and lets talk about #8s or #7 1/2 for handicap, again.

    I will be at THE Grand and hope you are too.

    I have corrected my post above. The motion before the BOD to accept the offer of the IDNR (moving the Grand to Sparta) passed in a special committee meeting: Yea 46, Nay 6.

    I am not talking about the Grand but the state itself. It is an anti gun state that the MEMBERS of the ATA DIDN'T like. As the members said it was rammed down our throats. There are delegates who voted YES to the move who are no longer delegates for that state because they did vote yes. That said enough about what the members wanted but the officals wouldn't listen to the members like they should.
