Reload your own shells , join a local trap club that you don`t have to travel too far and has reasonable rates , help with all the workings of the club , give up most or all ATA shooting where travel and costs are a factor and you will still be able to get the shooting in that you are accustom too !! If thats not possible then you may have to hang up your gun until the cost of all these problems stablizes . Hope I don`t offend some on here with my beliefs . Good luck to all is the similar situation . I have done what I had to do and still shoot 2 times a week , not many rounds but I`m still out there shooting and socializing .

Lemme put in another plug for archery. Can't beat the ammo cost...I've been shooting the same $500 bucks worth of ammo for 2 years.

Still go to the range with the retired dudes 3 times a week. We just BS more and shoot less. Sometimes the gun never gets out of the car! We solve a lot of the world's problems......mb

You know I never did shoot handicap very well........Now, I dont at all. Cut my costs in half. And its a lot less frustrating. More Bull shooting than trapshooting works for me too.

I retired three years ago. Since then I have had nothing but health problems-and I'm not looking for sympathy here. Two weeks ago I shot 50 rounds and or so and my god what a wonderful feeling and smell of powder. In one respect I am lucky because I have thousands of once fired empties, about 25 lbs. of powder , 15,000 primers and 30 bags of shot at $11.25 per all purchased when everything was reasonable. I have also collected around 300lbs. of wheel weights at an average of 32 cents/lb.

The biggest problem I have is my wife! She thinks I'm a child and shouldn't be melting lead in our old turkey cooker burner that we don't ever use to make ingots to trade for shot. One of my problems is my mouth, I tell her what I plan to do this week etc. I guess I should be greatful I have someone to worry so much about me because I still have only a 2/3 working heart. Even when I wasn't shooting I went to the club periodically for the socialism, harrassment etc. Why did I write this? I don't know, it just felt like the thing to do. I love all guns and shooting and the people associated with it. There are assholes in every club but you know I don't give a damn any more, they just don't bother me. RETIREES: Don't quit comeing, we enjoy your company too much and volunteer to sweep the floor or clean the windows sometimes. Hope I haven't bored you. Dave
