OK....I'll be up front with you. This is a loaded question. What do YOU think they are? We hear about these basics all the time, but seldom are they specified by anyone. Do these people really KNOW what they are talking about or do they just want us to THINK they know? As trapshooters, we BETTER know, but do we? What are they to YOU?

Well first, you have to have an innate and irrational fear and loathing of people who shoot skeet.

Second, you have to weigh at least 50 pounds over the optimium weight shown for your height in those tables in the doctor's office.

Third, you have to be old enough to have gray hair.

Fourth, you have to drive a diesel dually pickup truck.

Consistant gun mount, consistant cheek pressure, consistant barrel to bird relationship. Good eye sight and reflexes help too. Get your eyes checked and pay attention. Now all you have to do is learn all the leads.

Load gun (but dont ask 7.5's or 8's)

Point gun (but dont ask anything else)

Call pull (or whatever you desire to say)

Pull trigger (or release trigger depending on you)

Watch bird go poofy in the sky (but dont ask why you miss when you miss)

Go back to top of this list and do it all again and again and again and again and again and again and again ... but just dont ask any other questions cause anything past the above is more than just basic trapshooting.

Sarge .... He know everything. He has multiple 500 straights (according to a recent post)and is a legend in his own mind. Too bad he does not contribute to the forum with other than humorless stupidity.

    "See target-----Hit target"
That pretty much covers the basics.
