Well, here I am on the computor in the Eskimoe library here in Point Hope, Alaska. We got back off the ice yesterday and my fingers thawed out enough to write this. No bear seen yet. My Eskimoe guide is a dumb ass who don't know his butt from a whalebone! He said he was the chief's son, but that's bullshit. He speaks spanish.....I think he might be an illegal immigrate! Probably the town clown. Well, away, we're going out again tomorrow. It's cold enough to freeze the balls off a Siberian well digger, and I'm getting a little pissed. The damn sealskin boat sprang a leak 30 miles off coast, and I thought it was all over. As luck would have it, the guide chewed some blubber and stuck it in the hole....it froze and we got back OK. We spotted something on a far off ice chuck and thought we were in luck ,but it turned out to be a Mexican looking for the California coast. He was a little off coarse, but the guide told he which way to paddle. Walrus are out of the question. To much water and not enough ice yet. If I make it backto Point Hope alive in three days, I'll bring you up to date. Till then.....Kuachuwachuwaka....in Eskimoe, that means "screw it, I'm going fishing"!
