Thanks to all who gave and give input to my question about when you started shooting trap. I was curious about economic trends as per the advice of my investment specialist. If his predictions and viewpoints are correct, those who are 50+ is a large group of baby boomers who are getting into retirement and pre-retirement mode. Hence this group is downsizing re. many types of major purchases, incuding real property, big refridgerators, the latest stereo etc. But the upside is, I predict more of their income(s) will go to recreation, including, I hope, target grade projectile launchers vs. projectile launchers only designed to put meat on the table and to keep vermin at bay.

I therefore hope that our shooting sports will experience new and faster growth as more and more individuals approach retirement mode and we will have more choices re. shooting venues, wonderful target shotguns, and maybe, just maybe, and lower real dollar prices.

A gunmaker told me that gun sales, according to his contact with the BATF, are stable overall, but the number of target grade guns is down. I hope this changes; I'd hate to see wonderful and innovative smaller custom gunbuilders go out of business. I am NOT implying that any company has fiscal problems and is not healthy, please don't read that into this, I am not privy to any inside information, but hope that the predictions hold true and that we aging baby boomers will have more and more toys and recreation of all modes to choose from.
