NRA was taken in. They changed their position later.

    Aug 31, 2010 huffpost:

"Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) must be wondering what else he needed to do to make his pandering to the gun lobby pay off politically. In a recent statement, the National Rifle Association has made it official. Despite Reid's recent record of carrying the NRA's water on Capitol Hill, the gun lobby will not endorse the Majority Leader for reelection against his Tea Party Republican challenger, Sharron Angle."

If angle hadn't made the faux pas about Hispanics she would be the senator. they jumped on her like a cat on a roach.

Senator Jim DeMint, who is considered to be the standard bearer for conservatism in the republicon party, who just retired to become the head of some huge conservative organization, admitted on Limbaugh's show that he and Reid are good friends. You wonder why the republicons are lost in space? He admitted that he considers Harry Reid a good friend.

He is not well liked in northern NV either. Too bad the rural vote means nothing compared to the voter base in LV.

Perhaps the one thing I am ashamed about from Nevada. Sorry country.

As my NV shooting buddy says, "Reid is a crook, but he's our crook."

He brings in a lot of tax dollars to NV.

He might bring a bunch of tax dollars in to NV but that ain't free money - it comes from somebody's pocket. He also managed to become very wealthy while serving as a senator - not something an ordinary honest guy could do.

That conveniently overlooks the NRA artificially and wrongly elevating Reid from a D rating to a B rating to put him on a more even footing with Sharron Angle. Basically the NRA "cooked the books" on his past anti-gun history to make gun owners with short attention spans or those incapable of thinking for themselves get suckered into voting for him. This also made the NRA politician ratings Not Relevant Anymore.

Manny Pacquaio's boxing career has not done so well since he campaigned for him.

It just all depends on how you look at some things...

Judy Wallman, a professional genealogy researcher in southern California , was doing some personal work on her own family tree. She discovered that Congressman Harry Reid's great-great uncle, Remus Reid, was hanged for horse stealing and train robbery in Montana in 1889. Both Judy and Harry Reid share this common ancestor.

The only known photograph of Remus shows him standing on the gallows in Montana territory:

On the back of the picture Judy obtained during her research is this inscription: 'Remus Reid, horse thief, sent to Montana Territorial Prison 1883, escaped 1887, robbed the Montana Flyer six times. Caught by Pinkerton detectives, convicted and hanged in 1889.'

So Judy recently e-mailed Congressman Harry Reid for information about their great-great uncle.
    Harry Reid:

Believe it or not, Harry Reid's staff sent back the following biographical sketch for her
    genealogy research:

"Remus Reid was a famous cowboy in the Montana Territory . His business empire
grew to include acquisition of valuable equestrian assets and intimate dealings with
the Montana railroad. Beginning in 1883, he devoted several
years of his life to government service, finally taking leave to resume his dealings
with the railroad. In 1887, he was a key player in a vital investigation run by the
renowned Pinkerton Detective Agency. In 1889, Remus passed away
during an important civic function held in his honor when the platform upon
    which he was standing collapsed."

NOW THAT's how it's done, Folks! That's real POLITICAL SPIN.

Sorry to tell you this but none of the above is true! It's an old joke, as a matter of fact, a bit of homespun political satire that has been circulating in various forms since 2000.

The image is actually a historical photo of the hanging of a New Mexico outlaw named Black Jack Ketchum in 1901.

That's not to say that some digging around in Reid's genealogical past wouldn't allow something equally despicable to ooze up to the light of day...
