A great big Thanks to Andrea and the Piedmont Sportsmans Club for a fantastic day of shooting at yesterdays Doubles Marathon. For those of us that braved the predicted rain, thunderstorms and wind to attend it was a fantastic day. Arriving at 9:20am we were greeted by a pheasant (in Virginia)at the end of the lane leading to the club. Then one of Andreas great home cooked breakfasts and finally to the fields for the first of 5 rounds of doubles. The day was cloudy and dark with a little wind but only very light drizzle and no thunder bumpers. After everyone had finished their second round we broke for a GREAT lunch. I love it when Andrea uses us as guinea pigs for new recipes. We were forced to consume pork roast so tender that it fell apart as you tried to cut it, fresh Asparagus, sliced sweet potatoes and two home made desserts. Then back to the fields for our last 3 rounds. By the start of round 4 the sun was shining but the clouds and light drizzle returned by the last round. A FANTASTIC day of shooting, chatting with friends and great eats. THANKS Andrea and Piedmont. Oh yea as we left the pheasant watched us drive out. It just don't get any better.
