A woman who is a ccw holder from Tenn. was arrested when she tried to check her gun when she was going to visit the 9/11 memorial. NYC with its zero tolerance gun laws are just out of touch with most of America. At least if you have a NT tag on your car you better be walking on eggs when you drive thru Tenn.---Tenn. residents are pissed at this woman's arrest.

There are no states that recognize all other states licenses. NY recognizes none but their own. HMB

To be a future doctor, the woman was not very smart (a nice way of saying stupid) for either not knowing New York's well known stance on handgun possession/carry or checking on it before traveling with a handgun. You need to be careful when traveling in socialist states. The only problem I have with Yankees coming down to Tennessee is that sometimes they want to stay. They can drive as fast as they want as they pass through.

This is the 2nd within 2 weeks about an outstater trying to check their homestate legal firearm and then being busted.

If you are traveling with a handgun you better check the rules of the state you are going to and passing through. There is a travel guide available, I have used it in the past, but I can't remember the name of it. Google should work.

A lot of states & cities will wipe you out just for passing thru with a handgun, even if locked a case, locked in a suitcase, locked in a trunk,no ammo, etc. It is really scary out there & I hesitate to travel anywhere with a handgun or longgun. I don't know how the IPSC pros do it? I only shoot local & adjoining states from Montana.

New York city, and a few others, have their own licenses, and don't recognize the state of NY license. There are carry exemption, like competition shooting etc. Look at the link and see what you have to go through.

A Federal permit? Ah Ha! Big government! Federal intrusion into the States' business! That attitude is not compatible with the Tea Pary ideals. It's not compatible with Libertarian philosophy. Where is the real John Galt? Where is the fake John Galt that lurks here? Set these big government freaks strait.

Is that the rank odor of hypocrisy I smell?

I lived in NYC for 9 years. This is not TN. There is a reason extremely strict gun laws are a necessity in this town.

I always advise to not count on another locale accepting your CCW permit and it doesnt matter what your instructor says or what you think they have said

I also advise you to contact a local attorney if in doubt and you want to argue about what your understanding is. It might save a life changing event- which is what a felony conviction is.

Like the gentleman in NJ who was traveling from the airport- he is in prison for several years

Its your choice to face felony charges- just try to argue with the police- judge and jury that you dont think it is fair or that your instructor told you it was ok.

    Regards from Iowa

Capulona, What is the reason that extremely tight gun laws are required in that town?

Strict gun laws are needed in NYC, because, if the laws were relaxed, honest, decent, law abiding people could protect themselves from thugs.

P.S. going to NYC with a handgun is stoopid. Odds of getting arrested and hurt in prison are greater than the odds of getting muggged on the outside.

Yeah. The Sullivan gun law was pushed through by Big Tommy Sullivan to protect criminals from their victims. It was to prevent shopkeepers from gunning down thugs extorting protection money.

How's this thought for those demanding a Federal CCW permit? HA HA, Obama will get to right the rules for those. Does that thought make you happy? Think you'll get one?

It already passed in the House and is awaiting Senate action. The bill would make your permit good in all states, just like your drivers license. HMB
