We've started a inter-club league over here in Johannesburg. Several clubs are involved; Centurion, Doornkop, Wattlespring, Pretoria Miltary, and Limpopo. These are all clay target shooting clubs in the general Johannesburg area.

The rules are simple. As many guys from each club can show up and shoot. The top five scores are totaled, and the winner takes the coveted trophy. If a club doesn't have five people show up, that's OK, they get to borrow a score from a shooter from one of the other clubs.

After all, its just for fun.

Oh, there are rules on the trophy. It must be furnished by the host club, and cannot be worth more than 20 Rand, which is about $2.75.

On the strength of a 99 by yours truly, a 93 by Peter Nieuwoudt, a 92 by Nathan Nieuwoudt (no relation) and a 90 by Nigel Pardoe, (and a borrowed score from one of the other club's shooters) Limpopo took home the prize:

    Impressive, ain't it!?!?

I tied for top individual score with my good friend Piero Farina who also popped a 99 for the Wattlespring club.

Afterwards, my friend Koos Davel provided Blesbok boeriewors on the braai.

    Translation:

Blesbok is a kind of antelope he shot on his farm.

Boeriewors is the South African equivalent of bratwurst, only not as spiced.

Braai is the Afrikaans word for barbecue.

We had probably close to 30 shooters. The guys are using this for a "warm-up" for the South African Grand which is coming up in 2 weeks.

Home is where you put your gun in the rack. Glad you are having some back-home style fun there Timb.

P.S. That is one impressive trophy.
