Due to other topics on the other thread. Post which way you think the target year should go. I'm like several others on the other thread. If it moves at all I think it should be the day after the Grand as mentioned. I try to shoot 3 or 4 times in the fall for next years targets. With the distance and number of targets I like to shoot each weekend (one day) is around $250. Now I won't waste that $1000 to shoot targets that don't count for anything unless they change the way minimum targets are calculated. I would've never thought about moving the targer year away farther from the Grand let alone be unanimous...

My wish is to leave it as is or closer to the Grand.

    I don't care!!!

If you care so much why don't you talk to your ATA director because he has the vote. You may even want to run for his job if you don't like the answer you get from him.

Duper, The reason I heard from some ATA Officials that they wanted to move the end of the target year away from the end of the Grand was because they are swamped in the office at the end of the grand. This will reduce some of the work load for those in the office. makes sense to me.

Gary- There are some problems in the office. I would think they would be best solved in the office. The rate and cost of data input in the office does not compare well with other companies doing similar work.

This has got to be a regional thing. I live 2000 miles away from the Grand and frankly do not give a $hit when the target year starts. I shoot Trap because I enjoy the game and our registered season is May through October when the weather is not too bad and usually September and early October are the best conditions not too hot or wet! If target minimum requirements are your biggest concern, then talk to your Delegate to get the qualifications changed to be Current year or Previous year and quit thinking that targets shot after the Grand are a waste of time and money.

I don't care, and shoot somewhere most every weekend.

Look....after year # 1 it's all back to square one. States and/or Zones may waive target requirements for their shots.

    It's just no big deal....

It doesn't matter to me anymore. That said, when I was a working stiff and lived in New England it mattered a great deal. The MA state shoot is always the second weekend in June and it was sometimes very difficult for me to get the required targets in due to work and family. I usually found myself running around in all kinds of weather trying to fulfill target requirements if for some reason I was unable to get the targets in the prior year (often family illness caused problems). It can be a real hardship for some and I was very happy when they changed it from 11/1 to 9/1 for the new target year. If all the state, zone, SG's and Grand shoots change their requirements to encompass prior 2 years targets with no specific reqirement in the current year it shouldn't matter to anyone.
