1. We have added the ability for anyone to 'bump' threads that they have created. This is mainly useful in the classifieds area where posters constantly bump for sale threads to bring it to the top. This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

This chute last hit the breeze in 1967 with the 101st Airborne.
Includes the D bag, harness, and static line.

I always intended to use it to decorate a bar which I never built.

The chute is in perfect condition, The D. bag and the harness have a few mouse holes.

I do not have access to a C130 or the desire to hit the "silk" so have decided to part with it.

I know there are some old "jumpers" on here, so am offering the rig for what it is.

A link to a time when we were young warriors.

I have no idea what it is worth so am open to serious offers.

I do not currently have pictures .

If you have an interest PM me.

It will probley end up in ebay but wanted to offer it to ts.comers first.

    The chute is olive drab.

Its a T10, has the quick release canapy connectors.
The harness has the round release that you hit with your fist to release the harness straps.

A couple of years ago I revisited jump school at Benning and got to talking with a TAC NCO.
He said they refered to these old harnesss as the "dial of death

All the time I was using them I thought they were safe!

Does it have the double L modifications? The release system you're describing is probably "Capewells" Mik

Is there any interest at $100.00 plus shipping for the whole rig?

Would sell the canopy by itself for $75.00 plus shipping.

    I am open to offers,

    Thanks for looking

It is a standard military T10 no mods. No way would I want to jump a 40 year old Chute. Best used for decorative purposes. Capwells sounds right.

I used to jump a 7TU modified T10 when I belonged to the 82nd Sports Parachute club. Its been over 40 years so I could be wrong about the modification.

It was black and I bought it from Col. "Bull" Simon wo was running the HALO school at Fort Bragg at the time.

    Thanks for your interest.

Wow, memories there. 42nd school Company, January 1975! 2 "zero" weeks waiting for the school to fill up after Christmas. It was almost bearable being there in January and February. First morning was only 3 laps, 4.5 miles total around the field. I had one of those buckles beat a blood bruise on my chest in just about a day!

Black hats were merciless, but they especially went after the officers, and the marines. Then to Fayettville for awhile. AS I recall the dates on some of the chutes were Korean era... Ed you must have been there a bit before I was there, I'm sure we chewed on some of the same dirt!

I hung around with Dennis Chalker for a bit, there was a guy. Got out of the army and became a SEAL because it was just "too" easy!

Ide be a player for the canopy at $75.00 if there are no major rips/tears. Could you check and see what shipping is to 42215. PM me if you would like. Thanks, Rick Gibbs

Hell, I used a surplus T10 with a double L in 1978 when I learned to sky dive at the pig farm in Wisc.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is probably not for you.

    John boy,

Never had the displeasure of plowing turnip fields.
Been draged atime or two but was able to release one of the capewells to deflate the chute.

    Rick,
I went through jumpschool in July of 1965.

Hotter than hell. They ran us through the outdoorshower about once an hour or so to keep us from heat problems.. Had lister bags of salt water hanging on the trees to hydrate us.

You are right they really poured it on the Marines and officers.

We had some UDT/Seals guys in our class, and they were awsume. If the TAC NCOS droped one for pushups, they all droped and said "more pushups Sargent"

Definately learned a lot about myself during jump school.
Learned even more during my trip through NAM.

Its great hearing from fellow "jumpers".

I've read about Dennis Chalker. Book three in the Six Silent Men series maybe? It's been awhile.
