I know that reloading different brands of shells with a range of components will make some reloads more expensive than others BUT what does it cost YOU to reload 25 shells?? Thanks in advance. Rick

    $3.50 for my 24gram reloads.

My comparison price point is factory ammo for international loads which vary from $5.40 to $8.00 per box with most readily available ammo at retail up at the higher end of the spread.

Pretty substantial savings as far as I'm concerned.

I had not checked this in a long time, so I just ran the reload calculator with new component pricing. Powder and primers up substantially, lead not bad at 23.00. It puts a STS/Nitro hull, 17.8 grains of 700X, Win209 primer, DR wad and 1-1/8 oz of Westcoast shot at 3.698 per box.

Based on the cost of components purchased in January 2009, I am loading 7/8 oz for $3.12, 1 oz for $3.35, and 1 1/8 oz for $3.59. Two factors that definitely keep cost down are buying in bulk and buying most things not Remington or Winchester, i.e., primers and wads.

Based on my last purchase of components...I run at $3.71 per box for 1 1/8 oz loads ... i oz loads at $3.51.

Sure beats the price of new shells!

About 3.50 for 1oz. and 3.75 for 1 1/8 oz (12GA.) and coming down slightly. I enjoy reloading and really notice the cost savings in 28GA. and 410bore.

Where is that reloading calculator when you need it? would yo please put up the sitee address? Tnanks a lot.

The sitee says $3.30 for me. How? $75 Titewad, Claybusters, Cheddites and 1-1/16 oz lead in a 5 time used STS hull. I thnink we actually paid $72 for powder and hulls are .03. Seems pretty cheap. But the numbers look right in the calculator. Between gas and shells I think I can shoot pretty cheap thi syear. Add in $3 targets for practice and I can afford to go to AK for their state shoot this year. Looking forward to that.

I just pluged in my cost of componets. $98.00 for Clay's 8#, $165.00 for Win primers 5000, $72.00 Dr 1 wads 5000, $24.00 25# of 8's. Calculator came up with
$3.45 per box using 1oz of shot and 17.5gr Clay's powder. This is lower than I thought it would be. Sts/Nitro's run around $79 a flat or more when i can find them.

Just purchased reloading supplies; primers, powder & shot.

    Primers Federal; 209A @ $147.50 for 5,000.

    Powder; Clays @ $104.99 for 8lb container.

Shot @ $23.99 per bag of Eagle.

    This all likens to:

    1 ounce loads = #3.57 per 25 rounds.

    11/8 ounce loads = $3.77 per 25 rounds.

Not many making their own shot huh? Just did my calculations and found with my free shot, my 1 1/8 oz reloads run about $2.10/box. If I up the shot price to $24 a bag, it's more around $3.78/box. Thank you Jimmy Stewart. Josh

A few pennies shy of $4 w/ tax (8%). Using STS hulls (free), CCI Primer, Hodgdon Int'l Clays, Rem Fig 8 wad, 1 1/8oz Law Mag #8s (all premium components). I use Fiocchi primers, Claybuster wads, and Eagle shot for practice, so those shells are probably a bit cheaper.

Right now I'm almost exactly $4.00/box ($3.999/25). That's 1 oz. over 17 gr. Clays. Still $2 less than storebought.

Lead is killing me $34/25 lb. We mine it here ship it out and it gets returned at 2500% markup.

If I go to a 7/8 load it is $3.73/box or $2.26 less than storebought

Is that reclaimed lead shot that you ship out? If so why don't you use it to reload your shells. That would lower your cost to less than $2.00 a box for your reloads. HMB

    Let's see.

Shot cost nothing (wheel weights are free - trade them for 'home made' shot).

Primers were $23/1000 (bought MANY several years ago...)

Ditto with powder (avg. about $8 per pound for what's in stock)

    Wads - by the case...

Net result is about $1.50 ~ $1.75 per box.

    COOL
