I would like to know what clubs are charging for a round of skeet or trap, 25 targets. Is the club non-for-profit or not (so I can compare to us).

Our club charges $2.50 a round starting April 1.
Previously we charged $2.00 but went up based on the rising cost of clay birds (just paid $7.97 a box plus tax).
We are a non-for-profit club, members only. We try to have each range carry the costs throught the shooters of that dicipline. We have 135 acres with pistol, rifle, archery, skeet/trap, and sporting clays ranges. We only charge $45/year membership dues and currently have about 1300 members.
We have a board meeting coming up and the cost per round will be a topic of discussion.

Thanks in advance for any info you care to share.
    Bob

Thanks for the responses! Keep them coming!

I do not think that our trap/skeet shooters know how fortunate they are to only pay $2.50 per round. Out of that, our range chairman (whom does not get paid) takes care of the building and grounds, all the maintenance of the traps and houses, etc. He keeps everything working well and works a full time job elsewhere. This info should help out at our meeting.

Must be the $58,500 in dues that makes the difference which is very nice . WE only have 20 members at $50 per year so $3 and $4 we have to charge and maybe with our target price increase of $1 a case to $8.85 this past year , we may up the non-members to $4.50 ?? Oh , we only have 2 trap fields .

    Not for profit...

    $3.25/Members
    $4.25/Town Residents, Non-Members
    $5.50/Non-Resident, Non-Members

Question - If you're trying to cover all the expenses through the particular discipline, how do you manage to break even at $2.50/round? Yes, a squad is generating $12.50/case of birds or a gross profit of $4.50/case, but what about electricity, real estate taxes, maintenance and other indirect expenses...?

More important, how much money do you have in the bank to pay an attorney when some one tries to close you down? How much do you have in your reserve funds for capital items replacement?

    Thanks for the responses.

Spitter, in response to your questions:
Electric, real estate taxes, insurance, etc. comes out of the general account. We do not expect the ranges to pay for these items. The Archery range also has a fee for our indoor range to cover the cost of replacing the target backing.
JBrooks, in response to your questions:
We have money in CD's for emergencies. We have a long range planning committee to plan out larger expences so we can spend within our income. We also have quite a few attorneys that belong to the club that offer services. We have been here since 1959 and have not faced any serious threats from the public yet. In fact, the community is quite supportive. We are surrounded on two sides by housing and are just outside the city limits. The farms on the other sides are owned by club members. We will eventually have to shut down hight power rifle but have enough ground to support the rest of shooting diciplines.
You never know what the future will bring ----. We read about other clubs having problems and evaluate where we stand.
