Republican Congresman Mike Kelly (PA - 3rd district) has introduced legislation to un-fund any and all attempts to aid in the passing of the UN Arms Trade Treaty (ATT).

Worth a call, letter, or e-mail to your representatives in support of this bill (part of National Defense Authorization Bill - HR 1960).

I thought this was voted on in the Senate and narrowly defeated. Is there a second bite at the apple?

The way this works is that our rep. to the UN needs to sign it first (Kerry has indicated he will sign), it then goes to the President (he too is expected to sign). To become 'law of the land' it needs to be ratified by both houses - something that will not likely happen NOW.

    BUT

This then sits and waits - could be 5, 10, 20 years - until you get an anti-gun majority in both houses, and then it can be passed - there is no expiration date on this.

Kelly's idea is do stop it dead in it's tracks by de-funding any and all aspects of the treaty now and in the future.

Why not de-fund the UN? They are a laughing stock anyway...
