I am switching over to a Winchester Super X from an 1100.

I am used to cleaning the 1100 every 200 rounds or so.

How often do you clean a Winchester Super X? I took barrel off, removed the gas piston assembly and cleaned the tube. How often should I; remove the bolt? Take out trigger assembly? Take gas system apart?

    Thanks
    Jim

You can shoot an SX-1 far more often than an 1100 without cleaning. Problen is, the gas system will likely last much longer if you do it often. Best be done after a week long shooting excursion and focus on the gas system only!!

I can't add anything to that. I supect you can get away with every 1500 rounds or more but why? I clean the whole gun every time I clean it. It only takes 15 minutes. Jeff

Go to 'shotgunworld.com', scroll down to the Winchesters Only section, click on it, and go the the thread "How to clean a SX-1". It's all you need to know and how to do it.

I shot a 5 day trapshoot at the SC State shoot last week-Wed thru' Sunday. The gun was clean when I started and dirty when I finished, with 1 FTF due to a light hit on the primer, with 900 shots being fired over the 5 days. I cleaned it yesterday, top to bottom, inside and out, removing the stock, trigger housing, and bolt, and it took 45 minutes. Now, it is ready to go again. Simplicity itself!
