Is the bolt buffer easy to change out? Or do I need to take this to a gunsmith? Thanks for any info, Wayne

It can be changed by anyone. A little lube and a wood rod to seat it helps. Take your bolt out and use a wood rod (I think 1/2" dia.)to push it into the recess. Sorry, it's been a while.

It's usually very apparent if you first remove the buttstock.

    Dear Wayne.

If you need a buffer for your "X", drop me your address and I will send you one.

Take the stock, bolt and trigger off the receiver. It could use the cleaning anyhow. The buffer kinda pops in. I have seen folks crack stocks wanging them in with the stock on the gun.
