anyone have a MX8 with subgauge barrels? I am looking for your opinion on the weight and balance a 12 gauge frame fitted with subgauge barrels (in 32" length).

The only other dedicated subgauge gun I am looking at would be a K20 in 32" length...

I have the K-20 in 32", 30", and 28" lengths. The 32's shoot great when shooting targets but I found them too long to carry for hunting although I shot them very well when hunting. I like the 28's and the 30's better for hunting. I have killed pheasants with a 20 ga. at ranges I never seemed to be able to hit at with a 12 ga. Federal makes a 3", 1 1/4 load at 1300 FPS that is copper plated. It's just awesome on pheasants.

The K-20 is just a great gun for either hunting or targets.

Pride: you hunt with a K20?? Even in 28" length, isn't it still a beast to carry all day long on a hunt?

I talked to a couple other shooters and they said the Perazzi MX20 subgauge gun is on average a pound lighter than the K20...that's good for driven hunting but bad for high volume dove hunting or subgauge clay target shooting....I thought maybe buying a MX8 receiver with the subgauge barrels would make the weight comparable to the K20....

I'm currently shooting an MX8 with 34" barrels and 30" Briley sub-gauge tubes. Sadly, I sold an MX8 20 ga with matching 32" 28 ga barrels. That was a really nice combo and I used 410 Chambermates in the 28 ga barrels with excellent results.

On a side note, several of us shot a very challenging sporting clays course today with 410s. I was astounded at how far away one guy was breaking targets with 410 Chambermates in his Browning 425 28 ga!!!! Sixty was high score.
