    ------- "Stock Fitting Secrets" -------

You've heard it before: To shoot up to your full potential your gun must fit. It must allow the use of a correct gun mount, stance and body posture (shooting form.) That is the form that has resulted in the best scores and the most rapid improvement with practice. (Trap has the most evolved or refined shooting form of all shooting disciplines, probably because it has been used and improved for several hundred years.)

The easiest way to check fit and form is to visit a good stock fitter. Unfortunately, not everyone can do that. "Stock Fitting Secrets" was written for those who cannot visit a good fitter, not to replace the need for stock fitters. They will remain the best way to correct both your fit and your form.

There are still a lot of shooters who are unaware that their form is badly flawed. "We've shot this way for years," they'll say. "and we do all right." You can also find shooters who are very good in spite of the flawed form they use. The question for booth groups is "how much better could they be shooting if they changed to the correct form? It's a question that goes unanswered much of the time because for some people, 'change' is difficult to consider.

In all cases, their stock fits the form being used. It has to; otherwise their shooting would not be shooting as well as they are? Should they change? That's a good question. The answer depends on whether or not they want to accept the built-in limitation created by their form. If they do, fine. It's a choice they are free to make. If they don't and want to continue to improve, their stock's dimensions need to be changed so the correct form can be used. They must also be willing to pay the price in lower scores until they get used to a different form. It doesn't take long but it does take time.

If you want to improve your shooting and cannot visit a good fitter, "Stock Fitting Secrets" was written for you. The book will provide all the information and instruction necessary to make your gun fit. Correct shooting forms are also described in detail. They are related to each stock dimension and individual shooter size and shape. "Forms" is used because shooting forms for the different shooting discipline, vary significantly.
