I have a Stevens model 311 and was wanting to know if the gun is good quality? Thinking about putting choke tubes in it to hunt with but don't want to spend the money if the gun is junk. Thanks for your opinions. Shane

It a no frills gun known as a good old reliable shooter. Its okay for hunting but the expense of threading for chokes is expensive and the gun doesn't warrant you putting this kind of money into it. Just shoot it and enjoy.

The 311 in .410 is the best squirrel & rabbit gun ever built. IMO ;)

While back bought a 20ga 311 in excellent condition. Supposed to be choked
mod/full. Mod barrel shot to left - full OK. Sent to Percision Accuracy. He
dialed in on the full - opened mod up to IC and full to Mod. Both now shoot
100%. Suggest U pattern and C how yours shoots. If need, let me know and
will put U in touch with someone who can correct.

Sure aren't a high end gun but most go off every time. IC and Mod great pheasant and grouse gun. What else would a guy ever use it for anyway?

The gun is choked mod. and full and does pattern tight. It's been in the family since new and has an upgraded stock. I figured I could make a good pheasant gun out of it with screw chokes.

I have a 16g 311. Great gun but I think I would rather have the chokes opened up at a cost of roughly $60-80 instead of the high cost of choke tubes.
