I don't know who the model is but it was sculpted by Frank Hoppe's brother. There are several miniatures of it out there.

I think it would be better located somewhere near the entrance of the Event Center .... or better yet, in front of the new ATA Hall of Fame.

The statue is not obvious. I kindof ran into it while walking through the shell house.

    The text says

    "The Grand American"

From 1900 through 1923 the Grand American was held in ten different cities. They include New York, Kansas City, Indianapolis, Chicago, Columbus, Springfield, Dayton, St. Louis, Cleveland and Atlantic City.

In 1924 the Grand was held in Vandalia Ohio where it remained for 82 years.

In 2006 Sparta, Illinois hosted its first Grand.

This sculpture was completed by Fred Hoppe to commemorate the 100th Grand held in 1999.

Below that is a list of donors.

It looks like his left foot is going to tied his swing up on any hard left targets:)

Nah, he will just have a failure to fire in those hard lefts...

Not a problem if he is shooting 2 hole targets. :)
