How about a little more information.

Did not let them sell what gunpowder, shells, turkey sandwiches?

    Was any reason given?

EVERY time I go there, quite a few people have notices up on the bulletin board about guns, and other items, FOR SALE. Is anything else accurate?

OK guys-here's my take on this issue. First, I've known Mike for many years and I admire and respect him as a great guy and honest gun vendor. All our dealings have been more than fair and I hope to continue our business relationship for many years.

Mike leases a space within the club and is responsible for the activity that goes on behind his counter-all well and good. Mike is not held accountable for any activity that goes on in front of the club on the porch-right. If someone accidently knocks over a gun on the front gun rack would Mike be held responsible-no. Therefore, I fail to understand why the Silver Dollar restricts commerce for some people to the detriment of others.

I might also add that given the little markup that's associated with component sales and the short period that a vendor might be on the grounds, why bother to even put that statement in the program.

We all know that vendors and the ability to make deals are what help make a shoot successful. Some of us still remember the Southern Grand in it's infancy when vendors were parked up and down the line. That was fun!!

dOne must recognize the hosting gun clubs need to make a profit in order to stay in business. Many times wholesale vendors want to put merchandise on sale and sell it at wholesale prices, which sometimes are below what the club could possibly sell them for. That is not fair to the club. I have seen this practice time and again. Unless an agreement between the host club and vendors can be worked out, one must simply recognize, the property belongs to the host club and therefore it is their sole discretion as to whom may or may not sell. - Jim

FREE Targets - Can you be more specific? You would have to shoot a lot of FREE targets to build a clubhouse?

Let's see - since 1965 NC has lost the Piedmont GC (Greensboro) - Tarheel GC (Advance) - Pinehurst GC - to developers or Golf Courses.

We have 13 traps and finally have a clubhouse to enshrine our HOF inductees. Thanks to the hard work of many and the contributions of many the NC Homegrounds and clubhouse is a reality!

Most folks really enjoy shooting in NC and all oganizations have rough times but you can't please everybody all the time!

Personally I would like to say thanks to everybody that has attended shoots at our Homegrounds. For those of you that have issues please feel free to contact out president Greg High. He will be more than happy to answer any questions that you might have!

    Dr. Longshot,
What have I ever done to you? I have no control over who sells what at the Silver Dollar. Who is this widow and what does she look like? Does she have any more guns that I can cheat her out of? Have you considered changing your medications? I don't understand your reasoning for these personal attacks.

To help answer your question Mike in regards to who Gary Bryany/DrLongshot is. He seems to be a hotheaded complainer who wants the world to know what he thinks and that anybody who does not agree with him, well check out page 12 on the following document to see what he is like.

    http://www.shootata.com/pdfs/2007_August_EC_Minutes.pdf

It rather seems that Mr Bryant likes to kind of get into heated arguments. I liked the part where it kind of put the entire blame on Mr Bryant by suggesting it wouldn't have happened if he had just kept his mouth shut.

I started shooting in 1964 and I am talking about the Homegrounds! A place that all of the shooters in the state of NC can come to hold their state shoot. And all of the friends that we have made can come shoot with us that are all out of state!

Piedmont hosted state shoots - Gone

Tarheel hosted state shoots - Gone

Pinehurst hosted state shoots - Gone

Durham hosted state shoots - still up and running!

We host a site for the Southern Zone also and will in 2008.

I don't have to list the new places to shoot since 1965 - if you shoot in NC you know which clubs are new and also the established clubs that have added traps.

All the club info is available at the website listed above and Terry Roush does a great job.

When I was on the board we took off 22-26 days a year for the Spring-State-Zone-HOF and worked from 7-7 +/-. The best part was loading the houses at 7ish at 95 degrees - a real workout.

Most of us that really want to promote the positive side to trapshooting roll out the red carpet for the out-of-state visitors which in turn tell their friends.

Let's face it - if you throw great targets with minimal target breakage and have good scorers and have access to good food and folks are nice - chances are you might be back regardless of the fees.

I travel to the South Carolina State shoot every year and they have managed to hold their target and state fees down and give away some of the nicest out of state trophies around.

Was I rambling? I don't really know what you are getting at about the FREE issue and the getting paid issue?

Are you saying that a certain few were shooting for free and getting paid also?

    Tell me more!

PS - we are going to the Southern Grand and shoot Thursday - Sunday!

    Can't wait!

Mike, All of us who do business with you, and enjoy doing business with you, will ignore this man's rant. I hope you too, will ignore him because you are far and away above this person. You are very fair, honest, and a gentleman to deal with and to socialize with. You offer a very good proshop to the shooter, and are greatly needed in the Silver Dollar. Trust me Mike, all of your friends will bring you more business, than this man can take from you. Ignore him! He sounds like another one of these people that want everything for nothing. I bet he didn't work for nothing!

Dr.longshot You said"us old timers knew when there was a good shoot put on,"

"I give up most of you win some are ignorant others know how it used to be"

I know how it used to be also when a coke was 5 cents and a gallon of gas was a quarter and kids could walk to school and speak to people on the street and they didn't look at you like you were crazy. Well guess what it isn't that way any more .

Now a coke is $1.00 gas is $3.00+ a gallon and kids can't even walk to the end of the driveway with out an adult escort. People on the street just flip you off if you talk to them today get over it and move on that was then this is now.

I don't like it but that is the way it is. Doesn't seem we can do anything about it does there.
