Anyone have a cheap bulk source for speaker/mic cord so I can make my own speaker wires. I am looking at 250' plus ends.

You can use 2 conductor 18 guage jacketed from Monoprice.com. 250' for $24.38. Can't beat that price with a stick.

High end overpriced speaker cable is a waste of money. I have bought bulk copper heavy speaker cable (Monster Cable look-a-like)and whatever ends I require from Radio Shack. Excellent results at a bargain price compared to name brand pre-packaged cables.

    Ljutic73,

The OP is not talking about audio speaker cable. He is asking about cable for the CVR microphones. People call them speakers because they look like speakers. Actually they are speakers but are used as microphones.

Both mics & speakers are transducers as one converts mechcanical vibrations into electric voltage and the other converts electric voltage into mechanical vibrations. BTW if you still have a record player, the cartridge in the tone arm is a transducer also......I know, I know, more info than you needed to know.;-))

Don't forget government surplus, or NASA surplus. I have used a lot of silver plated virgin copper wire that was used for the space program. How much cleaner can you get than that. I had to do a bit of braiding but it was worth it, and I have compared them with Kimber Cable premium speaker and interconnects to find no difference. Signals through silver wire on a mic would be very true. Ebay is usually the source for yard quantities of silver surplus wire.

ljutic73 : I disagree, if you had the chance to hear the difference side by side with raw copper and silver it is night and day at least with the interconnects. Especially with the mids and highs.

320090T : I am just rambling, Monoprice.com is your best bet.

Sweetwater.com sells that stuff. I'm assuming you're talking about pro audio type cabling and connectors. I've bought cabling in bulk from them, good outfit.
