One proud momma and daddy today. The major swearing them rang home that, "yes, you are swearing in, but you are also joining the <1% of people that step up to defend their country. You are protecting them abroad and here you are a part of most powerful organization on the face of the earth."

It was all I could do not to give a big HOORAH. It really made me proud to be an American.

Thank you to all of you who serve and have served. God bless you and God bless America!!

BTW,,,,he is now property of the Marines,,,,on DEP until August.....

God bless him. You and your family have good reason to be proud. Although the bad apples get all the ink America is still turning out good young men willing to serve a higher cause. The parents of these soldiers deserve a lot of credit for raising these fine young men.

Thank you all we are very proud of him. He really fought for this getting all his medical waivers,,,,just a word of warning, be careful what you tell the nurse when giving medical background,,,,he was in getting a test or something done and he mentioned that his aunt had a mitrial valve prolapse,,,,somehow it was written that HE had the prolapse,,,,took a lot of tests and signatures to get this cleared up....

Sounds like you are as proud of your son as I was mine when he went in. After boot graduation I went to pick him up at the airport in St Louis and didn't recognize my own son from the back, his neck was at least two inches wider than when he left for boot camp. Good luck to your Marine and his training camp. My son was assigned to the First Marines and First Tank. Dan

Thanks to your son for his service, and thank you for raising him to be a stand up American. To one proud Dad from another! Mine is just back from his second tour in Iraq( and another in Afghanistan) with the 82nd Airborne.

Congrats! My Nephew was in town for the holiday, he has been active duty for about four years and completed 19 raids with special forces in Iraq.

It's amazing how he went from a lazy kid to one heck of a Soldier.

He Has reported back for some heavy training in less than "comfortable" settings to prep for new missions.

He is battle hard and ready to hit Afgani boots first!

I wish your son the best.

    Proud uncle Shannon.

My son joined the Air Force last year and is a 3rd generation airman. Proud to say he is carrying on the tradition his grandfather and I both served under. BTW his mother was a career AF member also. Congrats to your son and I KNOW how proud you are of him.
