For a long time, Smith & Wesson nickel plated revolvers and autos. They had the process down pat, and had a perfect finish.

However, heavy use would invariably cause the nickel to peel from the gun and leave a not so good looking gun. A less than stellar job will quickly deteriorate, and is very difficult to remove.

Why not get the barrel refinished in a matte finish if you are not happy with the polished finish?
