1. We have added the ability for anyone to 'bump' threads that they have created. This is mainly useful in the classifieds area where posters constantly bump for sale threads to bring it to the top. This allows them the ability to do that without having to clutter the thread with extra 'TTT' and 'Bump' type posts. To bump it, go inside your thread and click on 'Thread Tools' at the top, then select 'bump'. You can bump only once per 24 hour period.

For more detailed information please see this post: Thread Bump Functionality.

Anyone know the difference between the 54 Sporter and the model 141? They look very similar. How much more is the 54 than the 141? Any specifics?

The 141 is a 64 action gun, the 54 sporter has the action of their match position shoot rifles, but with a cutout for a magazine. There is also a difference in triggers, to the guy who was buying those rifles for $55 back in 67. They were advertising the 54 sporter for $334.50 in 1975.

The replacement cost on the above Anschutz is $2,069+ shipping from Champions choice. The above is a 1710d kl master grade equivalent

Can I ask how you came upon a "replacement cost" for the 54?

I am not disputing your information, I just have never seen anyone with a replacement cost, other than a dealer when mine was stolen in a home burglary.

And while I'm asking, is the older model 54 with the band around the barrel, (toward the front of the stock, or maybe it is at the rear sight area) worth more/less/same, than the ones without the band?

Danny, I refer to "replacement" as this gun is a 30+ year old gun that was being imported by Savage arms. The current model that conforms to this rifle ia a 1710dkl. As for your question about a band around the barrel, I have several Anschutz 54 series rifles, old and new and there is no band around the barrels. Are you confusing this gun with a Winchester model 52? they have bands around the barrels.

Actually, it is not a band as such, but a larger area of the barrel, meaning the barrel is not smooth from front to rear.

The stock is relieved for this larger area of the barrel to fit into.

We just always called them a "barrel band" model

The one I lost in a burglary was a barrel band model, and one of them I now own is also.

Not much of a description, but without taking pictures, the best I can do

Sorry 4EVRYOUNG, not trying to hi-jack your thread.

Model 54 actions -- and triggers are wonderful. My parents purchased a Model 1413 target rifle for me when I was 12 or so in 1966/1967 -- for $250. Thumbhole stock, 17 pounds of tack driving accuracy. Someone's gonna be a happy camper with this purchase.

PhillyD, your 141 is worth $375-$450 and if it's a 22mag about $50 more. There's a guy on guns America asking $1,050 for a 141, but his estate will sell it for much less.

It's a coincidence this Anschutz 54 thread is posted the day I shipped a 54 replacement barrel to a ts.comer. Biff is building a benchrest rimfire score shooting rifle and I just completed machining a Shilen 4 groove ratchet barrel for his X Anschutz receiver.
