I just sent Alliant an Email requesting their suggestion to match Winchester Extra-Lite target load (2 3/4 dr, 1oz) factory shells.

While I wait for their response, I thought I'd ask the forum.

Winchester Extra-Lite shells are 1 oz @ 1180 fps. The Alliant reloading guide on their website http://www.alliantpowder.com/reloaders/default.aspx (see above) lists lots of recipes for 1 oz @1150. Take your pick. I use Red Dot and Remington hulls. Mark

I use 19 grains of Green Dot with a Federal 12S3 clone and 8s. Great breaks and great crimps.

16gr Clays behind CB1100 in a AA or Nitro/STS hull. Your choice of 7-1/2 or 8! I use Fio 616 from spring to fall and switch over to W209 in the winter.

Alliant makes their extra lite for just that purpose.

In another era, I used 16.5 to 16.7 of 700X, Win. primers, CB clones of the Win 12SL, and 1 oz of 8s in both original AA hulls and later, Rem. STS hulls at published 1180 fps. These produced some 100s at 16 yards and moved me back from beginning yardage to 25 yards......breakemall

I use 18.5 grains of promo with 1 ounce from the 27 yard in protections and believe me, ask anyone who knows me, if I do my job there are very few who hit a target any harder. Tim

Two 1oz loads. Try these--STS or Win hull,Rem or Win primer depending on hull,Rem TGT 1 oz wad,16.3 to 16.5 Clays. Not more, not less. Chrono at 1150.
This next is the easest to make up,lightest true 1oz load I have ever seen. Very expensive but this one takes the cake for sure. Fed Gold Medal hull,Fed 209A,Fed SO wad. 18.8 to 19.0 of PB. About 1140 chrono. Now if you have some of those rare Fed paper, use about 19.5 PB,Fed S-3,Fed 209A. I do not use any aftermkt stuff so can make no claims for those loads.

Same as what 3357 said only sometimes the TGT wad [or copy] makes a better crimp and you can use Cheddite,Nobel or Rio primers and reclaimed shot to save some money.

    Thanks everyone.

Alliant said to use any of their 1200fps 1oz loads.

I consider that a BS response as my understanding is that 1200fps is usually associated with 3drm loads...

    For my 1 1/8 loads I use STS/AA hulls, W209, DR F8 and 20gr Am Sel.

My biggest wonder is what type of powder should I go with as there don’t seem to be many who use AS for 1oz lite loads.

I use Alliant Extra Lite for 7/8 and 1 oz loads and it works well.

    1200 would be a 2 3/4 d load for 1 oz...

I think any wad-hull combo, with any primer, 1 oz shot and 17 gr of Red Dot would be a nice load.
