OK, we've had a thread on just about everything else this winter. So, what is the smelliest powder (shell)? My choice (vote) is Federal Walmart special cheapies. Those things smell so bad I hate to shoot next to or around anyone shooting them.

For the record, 7625 smells the best.

Estate shot-shells. I don,t know what ATK puts in them, they smell awful. Probably some kind of proprietary Alliant powder.

Whatever they put in Kemen shells. I lost a handicap shootoff one time because the Kemen shells I bought at the clubhouse smelled so bad it distracted me.

I love the burning paper smell of the Federal Top Guns. Reminds of burning garbage as a kid and playing in the fire.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I agree with Frank C., Federal Papers have a wonderful smell; sort of a cross between firecrackers when we were kids, and something mysterious that is almost...well, I don't want to say it.
When I shoot them, I firmly believe they will not miss.......it's a dumb mental trick, but works for me. When I'm waiting my turn to shoot, I just love that smell.

Old Herters powders made in Scotland. Made the old nitrates way and smelled like cat pee.

One time, years ago for you young kids. Dupont made a batch of 700X that smelled and smoked so bad, you would have to wait for the smoke and smell to dissipate before you could call for your target.

I might add it was great shooting games where the guy next to you couldn't wait!LOL You should have seen all the shooter trying to get ahead of the 7ooX shooter in the line! Seemed like everyone wanted to start on Post one. What Fun.

Whatever powder Winchester was using in their 20 gauge shells during the 1990's. It had a really strong acid-like smell and on a hot summer day the smoke would really sting your eyes! The shells really smashed the targets though...

The worst that I have ever smelled was in the Green 1 1/4oz by Dynamint Noble
the powder was large flakes like a Diamond shape very Bulky Powder.

They sold for #29.00 a flat at Vances Shooters Supply in Columbus Ohio about 2-3 years ago.

I still have a few of those shells left.

What is that song, years past, that had a lyric that went in part "oooh, oooh, that smell..."

Are any powders made not from nitrocellulose, nitrocotton, but from nitrohemp?

(That would bring more of the retiring "Love Generation" into shooting and help increase the sport's numbers.)
