Picked up a really nice BL-22 and wanted to throw a little scope on it. Which do you think would work well?

    Leupold FX-I 4x28mm
Redfield Revenge 2-7x34mm
Weaver Rimfire 4x28mm
Weaver Classic K 4x38mm
I am leaning toward the FX-I in gloss finish to match the receiver, but would like something bigger than 28mm. Do you think I should step up to 34/38mm or 28mm is enough and which looks better on a the smaller size rifle?

    Thanks

I had one of those BL-22's. I gave it to my youngest son when he graduated from high school about 23 years ago.

It was my favorite plinking rifle. It was fun to shoot with that short lever throw. I really liked that.

Maybe I'll have to borrow it back from him and go plinking some weekend.

Good luck on picking a scope.

I have the Weaver Rimfire and really like it. I might consider a compact type on such a small rifle---but just my opinion.

Look at the leupold 2-7x33mm they are nice.

Very compact I have the Bl-22 and they work and look good on that rifle, have the same scope on a 22 Mag works good as well.

I bought a used 22 with a luepold 2-7x33mm shot gun scope on it except for the large cross hairs I like it to.

I would think about a BSA Sweet 22, they have the drop for rimfires figured right in the dials.

I put a Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 3-9x40 on one of my Ruger 10/22's and love it. Good clear optics and even has the mildot(BDC) crosshairs. Under $150.

One of my most useful riflescopes is a Leupold VX111 1.5x5 which has no objective bell at all. This wonderful little scope completely changed my mind about what a scope should look like and the real value of magnification Vs actual resolution. I have used mine on a variety of rifle including my open country big game rifles. Actual field performance is second to none and I do shoot fairly long distances.

On a trim little rifle like the BL22 you don't want a great big heavy scope and you don't need much magnification but you do need excellent resolution. Check out that low power VX111 Leupold - it is everything you want and nothing you don't.

Whatever you get anything bigger than 33mm will look silly on a compact little lever 22
