Slim Whitman died yesterday. He was 90 years old. I enjoyed his singing from time to time. I always wondered if he could break more glass than Ella Fitzgerald.

No kidding! Kitty Wells is gone also, as well as Kate Smith. DHS will surely save us. LOL.

I remember those late night commercials Slim did in the late 70s, or early 80s. I thought I was a music guy, and I had never heard of him, and here was a guy who sold more albums than the Beatles? (At least that is what the commercial said) LOL

And then Johnny Carson started mentioning Slim in his monologue.

Brian, is the above movie the one that has Jim Brown working in a Vegas casino as the former Heavy Weight Champion of the World? And toward the end he gets in a boxing match with the Martians? LMAO

Yup, that's the movie, "Mars Attacks".

It's a pretty campy spoof on sci fi movies. And Jack Nicholson plays the president.

    It's worth renting or streaming.

BTW, few people today realize the movie is based upon bubble gum cards issued in 1962 called Mars Attacks. The basic plot line is from the cards.

Slim sold millions of albums over the years. A lot of the younger people probably never heard of him.

I clicked on Cubancigar's link. It made the dog howl and cry. Between Slim's singing and the dog's harmony, I had to exit.

    Yikes!

Steve- Maybe that is why your neighbor left without saying goodbye. Your Slim Whitman 78's were too loud.
