I heard that there are traphouses built with a sliding roof. The roof would slide back part way to enable easy access to the inside of the house. Can anyone help?
We, (the talented people at our club...not including myself) have a hinged roof on the trap house that lifts up with pnumatic assist tubes much like the ones on tail gaits of SUV's. It has been there for years and you actually have to push the top down to close it. The roof is constructed of metal pans on a angle iron frame. If you would like pictures I'll take some for you and email them.
Most of the sliding arrangements I've seen are cumbersome at best. Al Ljutic designed one that was interesting... his personal trap range at the house was set up so the top half of the house slid back on concrete ways. It worked pretty good as I recall. The house was made of 2x4's and covered with sheet metal. The back of the house was two sheets of 3/4 plywood to keep any shots from hitting his machine.
I can get pictures of a sliding roof system to you within a week. We have three houses equiped this way at our club. I'll need your ( snail mail)adress.
I would appreciate an email with pictures of any sling or pop up roofs - Thx in advance. We are moving our trap houses our farther for more room for more houses and this is what I want. Especially the silders
