Its spring loaded, probably the spring broke on that part. Remove the trigger group & you can quickly tell.

Check to see if one of these wires are broken or bent badly.

The drawing of the action release bar with music wires shows how it looks out of the trigger assembly. The other drawing shows how the unit works to lock/unlock the action.

I have a particular older M12 which has that symmptom from time to time.
(Every few years or so) The problem with that one is that the shoulder
screw which holds the Action Slide Lock starts to loosen up slightly.
I've tried a couple of ways to keep that screw from loosening up but
I've finally given up and I just recognize the problem when it starts.
Yank the Trigger Group, tighten the screw, re-assemble and good for
another couple of years... I have thought about "bunging" up the screw
threads on that screw to "jam' it into place, but I dor't really like
the thought of bunging up ANYTHING on a M12....

Adam, put a drop of lock-tite on the screw? The shell feed is more than likely worn enough to allow it to loosen that screw when working the action. That's how I'd fix it, would last for a longer time without loosening. A new feed would be the best fix though. Hap
