My 85TSS fails to shoot the bottom barrel when shooting single. Shoot the Top Barrel first in doubles and the bottom WILL then fire in sequence. Looking for ideas and reputable gunsmith in the Northeast to look/fix my problem. Thanks Bruce

Check the small rods in the bottom of your reciever and see if they are intact?? Sounds like the bottom cocking rod is not working and when the gun fires it cocks correctly. They could be broken inside as well...Good Luck!

The lower firing pin may be worn (in many cases it scratches ejected hulls) or more likely there may be crud in the mechanism affecting the inertia system.

You can remove the stock and give it a good cleaning with an appropriate solvent followed by a spray of RemOil. If all else fails, send it to SKB in Omaha. You can find their website by googling it.

Just a note...it only costs about $100 total parts labor and 1 way shipping to send it to Omaha and have the gun converted to mechanical triggers...problem solved forever...plus they do an obligetory health check and replace /upgrade anything worn or not functioning correctly....Call the 800 number and speak to Don

Clean the gun and see if you cleaned off a piece of shot or trash off the gun that just might be the problem.

Remove the tang screw, recoil pad and use a 10 mm socket with a extension/ratchet to get the stock off and see whats going on. They have a plated brass inertia block and there known to wear.

If you can't find a gunsmith familiar with your 85TSS in your area, contact SKB in Omaha. Their gunsmith is top notch. He will repair your gun right the first time. I did have them install mechanical triggers in my tubed 85TSS this year and they work great. I now have three 85TSS shotguns with mechanical triggers. If you like the triggers in your SKB now, you will probably really like their mechanical triggers. Neil Swenson, Omaha
