I just purchased a used SKB 585 Sporting. I thought it had automatic ejectors. I checked the firing pins with snap caps and was surprised that when I opened the action the shells didn't eject but actualy only raised up less then an 1/8". I tested both barrels by moving the selector switch on the trigger. Is this and extractor model only, The spring tension is strong on both extractors/ejectors..

Could be that the snap caps are too heavy. Live shells won't eject, just fired ones.

Steve, if I just bought that gun I would send it to SKB and have them go over the whole gun and fix the exjectors as well. Your gun may need a upgrade or two from the factory. They will do the upgrades for no charge to you are are very fair with any repairs you may need to pay for. If it were my gun this is what I would do. Good Luck and Break-em all. Jeff
