About four months ago I bought an old single shot shotgun from a friend of a friend. It's been sitting in his closet for tha last 40 + years. It is a 40" barrel 12 ga "Long Tom". Seems tight as can be, no rust inside or out. dr fired it with a new snap cap hit the primer dead on. I'm going to the club this weekend do I shoot it or take it to a smith first?

Does it have a Damascus barrel?

Do you have reason to suspect it has excessive headspace?

Do you have reason to suspect it has a shorter than normal chamber?

How old do you believe it is?

If in the slightest doubt, have it examined.
