I just recieved my two bags of shot from Lawrance Company for their special promotion. As expected the bags were nicely packaged, and broken all to hell by the Post Office or carrier. I don't think they like those 50 LB. boxes.

I noticed the PO has a new larger size box for flat rat Priority Mail. It cost $13.00 (I think), they put a 20 lb. limit on that one.

The flate rate box has a 70lb limit set by the USPS. Where is the abuse. Also I believe the new larger boxes are the same 70lb max. Both are 20lbs max for International orders. Why is it so hard to have a 50lb box that small? When you can get larger boxes that heavy delivered with out a problem? I for one do not leave it for the carrier, I deliver to the window at the post office. Also I do not get the shot delivered either, I get a notice for a pick up at the PO?
Why is it so hard for people to do the jobs requested by their employers.

I do not exspect a route carrier to pick up and deliver my 70lb package but the USPS does require its employees to handle 70lb packages, click above. It is not abuse if they offer the service.

I had some shipped in and I notified my PO to hold it and went and picked it up in person, They thanked me and let me use a cart to get it to my vehicle.

I like my local PO and we have a great relatinship.

While I have no problem delivering those heavy boxes when I do get them I do not nor do the other carriers ever destroy heavy items on purpose. Way to many times I get them in my cart and they look like they went through a wringer and that usually leaves me in the noose to explain what happened when I have no idea who or where the boxes got crushed or torn opened by.
I do have a stamp that I mark them with as recived damaged.....so everyone we dont treat the boxes like many other shippers do. Our motto is not "Crush & destroy" like the others.....:)

I have always ran that fiber tape around my heavy boxes Ive shipped with no problems, anything that can come loose in the box is bagged also.

Right on Maclellan and 5spd!! Thank you for putting some well thought out perspective into this thread. Where is the abuse in shipping by the rules?
Where are all the angry postal employees seeking revenge on shot consumers and shippers? Neither exist.

Sportshot seems to be just a bit wimpy. The USPS makes the rules, so what's the problem with following them? He really steped on his shwanz when he said "The US Mail is a democratic institution in a free county". The USPS might be a lot of things but democratic it isn't.

Most letter carriers only work 5 days a week because the USPS hates to pay overtime. The truth is that the USPS is a worthless, mismanaged organization which only exists because of it's monopoly on 1st class mail. Rest assured they don't need to go to any effort to lose your mail- they're just talented at it.

Former Postal worker with enough sense to quit.

    Sportshot,

You are way out of line. The Post Office set the size of the box, the cost to ship the box and the weight limit for the box.

The few that are "abusing" the system as you call it are actually using the system within the rules as defined by the Post Office.

Please explain to me how using a system within the rules as defined by the business you are paying to perform as service is abusing the system.

    Thanks
    Ron

Sportshot - And how about those seniors that live to 90 and beyond getting their monthly Social Security check. These jokers get check after check and are ruining the Social Security program for the rest of us who die at a younger age. It is rude and abusive and disrespectful.

These Social Security recipiants are just like Democrat FREELOADERS who are scamming our Govermment. Tell me how it is different. The Social Security system is a democratic institution in a free county. It relies on individual honesty and integrity and respect. These CHECK HOGS are taking advantage of an important system in a free country for their own personal benefit.

Were the item(s) shipped declared at mailing? Lead is considered a toxic substance by USPS and although it is allowed to be shipped there are restrictions on it's shipment. Among others "it is the responsibility to have the primary container sufficiently strengthen to support the shipped materials."..."There must be enough cushening material surrounding the item(s) to prevent breakage or leakage." If the type of material was not declared at the time of shipment,(Was there a green carbon copy declaration on top of the package?) Hazard Class 6.1, DOT #III, USPS Hazard Shipping, etc., several Federal statutes may have been violated.

Now, how much more would you like to tell the Feds?

NinJak... The web site is http://lawrencebrandshot.com/

I heard over the weekend that Grafs has shot for $29. Haven't seen it myself though so I can't confirm it.

maclellan1911- Lead may still go by the old name Plumbum. Plumbum is often carried by some workers of the USPS. They carry it in their #$@.

I read your comment before I looked at the sign-on name and I'm shocked at your comments about Postal workers. You're usually the voice of reason and common sense. I retired from the USPS after 35 years and I'm proud of the work I did. I doubt that the average trapshooter would last too long carrying the mail in the summer (and the winter is no bargain, either)!

I'd like to hear the story of why Delbert "quit"; somehow I'm fairly sure the word discipline might appear somewhere in the narrative! And the Postal Unions are why Postal employees work 5 day shifts--more dues paying members that way.

LOL..I actually thought that was quite funny Pat! John, you know that old saying "a guilty conscience need no accusing?"...lighten up! Pat said "some", not "all"...and I totally agree with him! P.S. tell me how walking up and down a street matching numbers to mail requires anything more than a high school diploma? I know plenty of hard working mail carriers who take pride in their jobs and give 110%....and then, there's those postal workers who's attitudes are...well, let's just say "postal"

    Guys...

Something different here. Just received my 50# Shot deal and it came by FEDRX Ground not the PO!

    Interesting....
