Shot size

    In skeet, what would the advantages and disadvantages be in using 8.5 size shot verses 9.0? In the smaller gauges one would assume a less dense pattern, thereby creating pattern holes on the fringes. I would appreciate comments from shooters that have familiarity with shot size variation and particularly in the 28 and 410 gauge.

    In a nut shell, none. There is more than sufficient kinetic energy to break targets at 30 yds with no. 9, so there is no reason to go larger. Pattern density is what you want, not kinetic energy (unless you are shooting Annies skeet).
