Looking for info on shot reclaimers for our local club. They have 4 trap fields and have never reclaimed shot. Approv. 40 yrs of shot in the fall zone.

Any info on who to use and what to expect as far as the $$$ split.

In my research on the subject, Gene Sears Supply is highly recommended. Reports are they are honest, and leave your field in a condition that requires little more than reseeding to restore.

I would suggest that you contact Al Hulegaard, from Minnesota. He finished our range about 6 or 7 weeks ago and did a great job. Al uses a wet system and gets a lot more than the guys who use a dry system, unless the shotfall zone at your range is dry sand. He and his father did our range in 1980 and gathered about 81 Tons of lead. They then retired and went gold mining. We had at least four guys try after them in subsequent years. Two of them failed and the outfit from Oklahoma did as well as they could with the wet conditions of our range, about 25 or so Tons in the two attempts. Al got about 110 Tons with his wet system. Al will probably ask for a 25/75 split on the salvage as opposed to the 40/60 split the other guys get, 25% percent of 110 tons is more than 40% of 25 tons.

Some folks will tell you that a wet system does not meet EPA standards, they are wrong. Florida EPA was consulted and they had no problem. They inspected the work as it progressed, and their only comment was that Al should double contain his diesel fuel storage. Got to find something I guess.

Al's cell phone number is 612-910-2615.
