I would like everybody to laugh with or at me. I shoot a release trigger for trap, HOWEVER, last week I wanted to shoot a new load over my chronograph. My feild gun was setting mext to my load bench, " I will use this gun" needless to say on the to my shoulder I pulled the trigger. The rest, you can guess, OH WELL. Hope someone finds this funny

Let's hope it wasn't an expensive unit! Seriously, that is the main reason I will NEVER shoot a release trigger, flinch or not!

I pasted mine with a wad one day and had to send it in to have the display replaced.

I now have my second unit, also low cost like the first. So far so good.

    Nice work, fella. (HEE HEE)

Count me in with the group that has been there and done that, I shot mine the first day I owned it.

I've been responsible for a few oops myself, so in an unusual stroke of genius, I had a 3/4" thick piece of plexi glass cut that fits in front of the display on my Chrony. There's enough space that I can leave the piece of plexi in place and still fold the chrony in half to transport/store.

I'm sure it won't stop a round out of my 300 RUM, but it works well enough for trap loads.

Sounds like your field gun is shooting a bit low!

It’s healthy to laugh at yourself. ???

Watch those sabot slug shells also. Those hard plastic inserts will fly anywhere they want to, and will destroy a sensor housing,,,,from experience.

Been there, done that but with a rifle! After spending many moments making sure that I had the chronograph positioned properly in relation to the scope but forgetting that the bore was almost two inches lower, I proceeded to center-punch the chrono with a 52-grain .224 match bullet. There wasn't enough left of it to salvage.

    Pictures !

I did something similar. I was measuring ballistic coefficients by measuring initail and terminal velocities (at the target)

I only hit the wire for some reason

    Levi,

    "hope someone finds this funny"?

I was on the floor just reading your subject title....:)

Better luck in the future but from some of the other posts, it sounds unavoidable.

Has never happened to me, but I don't own a chrono, and for obvious safety hazards, don't think I will...LOL!

Yup been there.....I lent mine to a pal and he promptly put a .220 Swift 55gr bullet through it blowing to up....good thing is that Master Chrony replaced the base for $35, sent new sunshades and steel rods for it also. Cant beat that, yup pal paid for it also.

Quackshot. The Chrongraph was shot with a pull trigger from a hunting gun. Read the article again. Pull trigger had nothing to do with it. I'm glad you won't ever shoot a release trigger so that you won't shoot your Chrongraph. Post-2

Put a piece of thick plexiglas in front of it.

Might help with wads or stray pellets, but won't help with a direct shotgun blast or rifle bullet.
