I have just switched over to Low Tox antifreeze for my coolant in my drop tank and it works so much nicer than the Sun laundry soap and cleanup is great. I read in another post about adding some type of soap to the Low Tox. How much and for what reason. Thanks for any input on this.

I use it to get rid of some small dimples and it makes washing the shot even easier.

I put about a pint to six gallons.

I use whatever liquid laundry soap the wife has in the laundry room. The cheap stuff from dollar general, Sun I think is the brand works just fine too.

What brand of antifreeze and where did you buy it? I am using crop oil but I am looking for a easier cleanup.

    Thanks

For soaps "the cheaper the better" - in this sense...

Many of the name brand soaps have been re-formulated to work in the newer front loading machines - they are made to be 'low sudsing' and do not work as well for shot making.

Try a auto suply store they should have a hydrometer that is made to test temp of freezing soultion in a auto radiator. Pribbs

Hydrometer for testing antifreeze at the auto store is only good for about a 70% max mix. An auto etc. only requires a mix of 50/50 anything much more than that and you will not get freeze protection. Yes I know for coolant for shot making you are not wanting freeze protection but the point is the auto store hydrometer is for testing freeze protection not the actual strengh of more or less pure antifreeze.

With mine I use close to 20 gallon of AF going thru a radiator out of a Chevy 350, circulatated by a sump pump, made close to 850 lbs today and never got hot enough that i wasn't able to put my hand in the coolant, i would say the temp was close to 105, it work great in my set up

When I was running soap and some other things I used a Specific Gravity Hydrometer, used in Wine making. It worked great but if I remember the Low Tox Anti Freeze I tried did not have enough viscosity to take a reading. It won't float in the Dot 3 brake fluid either.

I know most dont leave the shot in the tank but If you use the crop oil DONT leave shot in the oil in about a week it will turn black and when you wash it and let dry it turns white and about 2 days
