Some of the guys at the club have been messing around with shooting 16's with a .410 lately. I tried my buddy's K-80 with a .410 tube and IM choke, and used a box of 8 1/2 shot I had from my sporting clays days. I was very happy when I hit a 20, and felt it could have been better. I think a 25 is possible on a calm day. Anyone else try this before?

That was probably a very expensive round? :)

Very cool! also a lot less expensive to reload!!!!

There should be ATA sub ga events.

Never tried it with .410, but I've shot a couple of 25's with 28 gauge tubes in my Beretta.

Love to see a sub-gauge event, if I still shot registered. Can't, due to a medical condition and the resultant meds. But it would be fun.

I bought and tried a 410 some years ago, a friend that I shoot with on a regular basis laughed the first time I shoot from the 16 with it. I broke 10 that first round and was determined to do better. So my friend started with his 410 and he has broken 25's a few times with his. Me best I've done is a 23 lots of fun and cheap to reload but the new shells are high.

Hay Utah York... Don't worry about Straight 8's finances... He has the bucks :) My 1st time too w/.410. He bested me by 1 bird; I was told to "touch" the target w the K-80. Took me 4 targets on post 5 to figure out that I needed to "float" the bird quite a bit to connect. I know I can take him w/ the .410.

You can also shoot Skeet and Sporting Clays with a .410.

    I don't always shoot trap but, when I do, I shoot .410. ;).
I usually hit between 15 and 20 with my last game better than my first.

Actually, almost every time I shoot is with a .410.
I shoot more skeet and 5 stand than trap.

Use hard shot and a faster load

It worked well for me with a full choke but then I started thinking about it and choked myself. I hit 16 with no misses until station 3

    Have to try again.
