Anyone shoot with orthodontic braces on their upper and lower teeth?

I'm almost 40 and need braces to correct an overbite that's wearing away my lower teeth. I'm worried that I won't be able to shoot trap for the next 18 months. The orthodontist says I'll be OK but he's not a shooter.

    Thanks.

I asked the same question here a year ago when my son had to get braces. Replies were all go ahead, no problem - and they were correct. There is some type of dental wax you can apply if you do have any issues, but my boy hasn't had any trouble.

yes, you will be fine. As mentioned above, if there is any irritation, you can apply dental wax to the problem braces.

    Porch loads should be avoided.

Didn't bother me a bit when I had braces.

There are mouthguards made to wear over ortho brackets. The Shock Doctor is one that comes to mind. You can find them on ebay. The wax will work fine but will be a pain to get off the brackets when finished unless it's just one or two brackets bothering you. Hope this helps!! Joe DDS

Judging by our bellies we do a LOT of chewing--with, or without teeth...

Thanks everyone. I am relieved to hear that shooting is possible with braces.
