Sad to announce that I have been informed that Shingo Kariya passed away this am. For those who didnt know Shingo he had the most ATA registered handicap targets in ATA history, according to the ATA website he had 305,750 registered handicap targets.
We are so sorry to hear about Shingo. It used to amaze me when he would show up at a shoot in the strangest places. He loved to shoot handicap. He will be missed.
Shingo probably did most of his shooting in California, but he would travel everywhere. Sometimes, he would shoot at one club on Sat. and drive hours to shoot at another club on Sunday.
I remember Shingo; met him one time years ago at Triple B's, ne' Pachmayr. I was amazed to hear that he had driven down all the way from Dinuba California for a weekend shoot!! He struck me as a quiet man who enjoyed shooting his Ljutic. Although I met him only once, I am saddened to hear that his career has ended.
Shingo's home club (and mine) was Tulare Co. Trap Club in Visalia, CA. by the airport, but moved north of town years ago. I shot with him in the 70's, good guy, my condolences to the family.
MISTER HANDICAP SHOOTER, rest in peace and God be with you.
