I gave a friends Ljutic Mono a good testing yesterday and shot it very well.
However, when shooting Fed. Top Gun I had some that won't eject and was given by my friend a "wad knocker" which is needed with Ljutic's. I was told if I didn't shoot cheap shells they wouldn't stick. Is Top Gun considered cheap shells and is this pretty common with Ljutics?

    thanks
    Bob

I polish my chambers to prevent this.

Of the 5 I have owned the only one that was picky about the shells I used was a Bi-gun. It would stick with top guns (any) and Rem special purpose (1oz 1290)

Some Ljutics don't like steel based hulls. Brass hulls are usually ok in a Ljutic. Also be aware that some hulls have a brass coating, but they are steel underneath. The gun may need a new ejector/extractor spring if it hasn't been recently replaced. Call Jimmy at Ljutic. Bob

I had a similar problem with my son's Ljutic Centennial with numerous brass shells new and reloads. A more powerful lift spring and some gentle honing solved the problem. I have a mono gun that I bought used. The previous owner had Ljutic remove a bit of metal from the barrel since it was acting the same way. Now no problems with either one. If you talk to anyone at Ljutic they will tell you to avoid steel hull shells. I think most Ljutics are a bit tight since I know several other owners that have had the same issue.

I use STS`s only in my early Mono . All the RGC shell stick even if they are resized 3 times on different machines prior . Most steel base shells will do the same thing.

I understand about AA and STS but what other shells would work? Kemen,Rio, Estate? I've shot them but can't remember their construction. Everyone around here sells Top Gun.

Steel in my Mono does not work. It seems my Ljutic does not like cheapies.

Most all "B" grade shells (Rem Gun Club, Rio, Kemen, Estates, Fed Top Gun, Wolf, etc)stick in Ljutics and most 90T guns. All have tight tolerance chambers. Premium grade shells (not steel base hulls) fare much better. Both great guns but a common problem with both. My Kolar doesn't like Rios for some reason and won't eject them completely. It will raise them up but won't shuck'em.

Since Lujtic is aware of this problem are they planning on fixing it?

The Ljutic ejector/extractor is purely spring driven, there is no positive cam action that starts the extraction process before the spring takes over. There are some very expensive shotguns that are similarly designed. To remedy this situation some people have honed out the chamber excessively, which can ruin the barrel. Dry lube helps but is not a 100% cure. Keeping the chamber very clean also helps, but will not allow 100% reliability. Steel-based hulls are simply a problem for Ljutics and other similarly designed guns.

I have shot everything in my Pro3 Ljutic and have never experienced this problem. Hope you get it working right.
