I saw this email to me this morning- and it is from a college classmate- I endorse it

I am very disappointed in the March 17 episode of the Amazing Race. CBS repeatedly showed/promoted Vietnam and their “Victory Song”, and the disrespectful showing of A B-52 Memorial. They even closed the show with the song playing in the background.

As a Veteran, I accept and understand the value in learning and exploring other cultures, but I was shocked and dismayed at how CBS and The Amazing Race chose to show the Vietnam culture. Creative License is one thing, but what they presented crossed the line in “fairness”. CBS showed its bias to a Communist nation at the expense of our Nation and those who served, the soldiers that gave their ultimate sacrifice, and their families who grieved.

Doing a close-up of Ho Chi Minh, repeating their "glorious song" about Socialism and their Victory, was more than poor judgment- it was very offensive. Where was their dignity on the B-52 Memorial? They did a great job promoting an American plane that was shot down. It looked like a cesspool where one of our aircraft crashed, and I did not see any dignity or memorial tribute if any Americans lost their lives in the crash.

CBS shamed itself, and I hope Americans call you out on this terrible showing. Gee, I am surprised they didn't make the Pit Stop at the Hanoi Hilton, where Americans were tortured.... I am sure CBS would have presented that in a positive spin. Or what about a challenge having contestants use a 50 cal machine gun and pretend to shoot down American planes, just like Jane Fonda.

This episode was offensive to Patriotic Americans, and especially to Veterans.

Shame on CBS and the Amazing Race.

I urge you to contact CBS http://www.cbs.com/info/user_services/fb_global_form.php and your local CBS affiliate if were offended

    Regards from Iowa

As much as you and I are in disagreement Gene, I have to get on the band wagon with you on this one. Was about to start a thread on it myself. The captioned translation of the patriotic song praising socialism was not needed (over and over again). Could they not have found a spot for the pit stop other than that dirty pond with part of a crashed B-52 in it? All this series did last night was rub the defeat in Viet Nam in the face of every American. In very poor taste indeed.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought that episode was disgusting. It's also disgusting how EVERY season they have to put either a gay person or couple in the show.

This network has been on my boycott list for 20 years. I don't watch any program on CBS. Even goes for ABC and I've added NBC for good measure. I don't even watch the Super Bowl nor any sports on the above listed networks. Thank the Lord for cable so at least I can watch something. BT100dc

My wife, who really enjoys watching "The Amazing Race", just told me about this episode. She was shocked that they would go to Hanoi instead of another city in the south. (I reminded her that Hanoi is the capitol of Viet Nam).

Then she described what they had the participants do. Sit through the socialist, communist propaganda theater production, and then show the downed B-52 plan that fellow Americans were captured, injured, and killed in when it was shot down. She thought that was in such poor taste. I told her that is not something I would put past the liberal media.

She then told me about watching Bob Beckel on "The Five" show. (Keep in mind, he is the liberal commentator on this show). He was livid over this CBS broadcast. He expressed his utter disgust in CBS for this insult to veterans for showing such activity in such poor taste. He feels CBS should apologize for their wrong doing. I posted above the link showing his reaction to CBS.

I served in the Marines from '68 to '72. I graduated from high school in '68 and saw first hand how our country was divided over the war in Vietnam. It seems so long ago, but still feels like a recent occurrence. Most young Americans probably have little knowledge of that war.

This current government seems to have forgotten what our country is about. CBS should have exercised better judgment in allowing such a display of offensive material. I don't fault the average Vietnamese person, who I personally believe is of reputable character. They are hard working people that still struggle to make a living. I do not harbor any ill will towards them.

I hope that CBS suffers financially from this stunt. I hope their rating tumble.

On behalf of my wife and I, I just used the above link to send CBS a scathing opinion about this Amazing Race episode. (Not that they will care what our opinions are, but it makes us feel better)
