I have worked in several gun stores over the last 35 years or so, and bought and sold many arms of all different types. I have never seen a serial number "1". There are many marked "1 of 500" or "1 of 1000" but the serial number is never just "1". That would be a rare bird indeed.

An Attorney that shot at the local club had Bi Gun 007.

He had it for sale for a long time with what was then a pretty stiff price.

I guess he thought some James Bond fans would like it.

    Regards......Gerald

I own a T/C Contender that is a very low 4 digit serial number. 17XX. It was from the first year of production.

I suspect most number ones don't make it out of the factory. Way too many number two's do......sorry I just couldn't help myself.

Unfortunately it was serial numbered with regular production, but I have an Uberti clone of a Winchester 1866 rifle in .22 LR. It was one of six rifles and three carbines made as toolroom samples. Uberti never put them into production.

I thought SSN #1 went to FDR. But it went to Concord, New Hampshire, resident Grace D. Owen, issued the first card typed in Concord, which because of the numbering scheme happened to be the card with the lowest possible number -- 001-01-0001. Owen received the number after it had been offered (as an honor) and declined by both John G. Winant, Social Security board chairman, and John Campbell, Federal Bureau of Old Age Benefits' regional representative for the Boston region. AJ

So how much more is a serial number one worth compared to any other number? My wife has the Lujtic SS mono #1 in top condition.
