Ok guys I am having a little problem seeing two targets off the end of my barrel and I am not shooting doubles. I am not sure if its some thing to do with the cold weather or if its some thing that just started do to my age. What can I try to stop this?

I would try that but I am sure that they is some kind of rule telling you that you can be doing that.

Do you mean an eye dominance problem? If so, you can either try taping over the weak eye's lens on your shooting glasses, or maybe one of the crossfire eliminators as on the above link.

If you're talking true double vision, better head to an optometrist.

    Good luck.

Sounds like you're shooting with both eyes open and focusing on the front bead instead of the target?

    Rick,
Seeing double may be the result of your eyes changing. This may be temporary or permenment. Regardless, your shooting game is gone when seeing double. Luckly there is a solution. Shoot with one eye, but that requires you to hold a low gun and limits your periphia. Another solution is to place a dot on the lense of your glasses so that you can not see the end opf your barrel with the wrong eye. Many successful shooters use this method. The last method is to place an attachment on your gun which prevents both eyes from seeing the front bead. One such device is the XD Solution.

I am begining to have this seeing double problem myself. I have purchased the XD solution. I have not yet had an oporotunity to test this device.

Rick, I would suggest first going to a eye specialist and see if you have any medical troubles. When I had trouble seeing two targets I had torn a retina.

    Good luck,

Went to get my eyes checked, and got a new prescription. I was seeing double targets because my vision changed. Did not realize how much until they show you what you walked in with, and how you will see when you get the new prescription. I now have contacts. My scores were dropping in the last eight months. Since the new prescription, I have not shot lower then 24. It is nice to see the rings, or steps on the target again, and the shadow inside the top of the dome, when the targets are thrown in the direction of the sun.

Another suggestion would be to uncross your eyes.

You may have some thing they when you told me to uncross my eyes. Last night when I was out walking are dog I was thinking about whats going on with my eyes and if I look at a stop sign for a little bit my eyes started watering and I started seeing to signs. I am thinking it has some thing to do with the cold windy coming in back of my glasses and making my eyes water. If I cover the my right eye I stop seeing doubles. I told the wife I am going to setup a time to go see a doctor plus this week I going to try a dot on my glasses.

It also could have been my blood suger that was down ..... I have had that from time to time when I haven't had anything to eat before going out to shoot and yesterday when this stuff started I didn't have anything to eat.

I think I am going to see the doctor and hope for warmer weather.

My son has been compaining about the cold wind in his eyes the last couple of times out. He's never had the trouble with his eyes watering on warmer days, just the type of wind he's been shooting in lately. Tonight won't be any better. It'll be warmer than last week, but still have the wind coming out of the north west.

Rick - the comment on blood sugar was probably more of an inquiry if you may be diabetic. This can just sneak up on a person that is in otherwise good condition. Quick and easy, go to wally world and get a $10 Relion meter which comes with a few test strips and a spring loaded lancet device. Follow the instructions and you will get a good indication what is going on. If you have high blood sugar levels you might be in trouble and need to see an MD.

Im telling you all this as a guy with very recent experience. I never did see double but my vision was failing in other ways. Don't put this off, the test is easy and cheap.
