SCTP Shoot Results From Santa Ynez

    Santa Ynez Valley Sportsmens Association hosted a SCTP/AIM Invitational Shoot this past weekend. It was attended by more than 50 youth shooters from 4 California Clubs.

    Saturday was a fun shoot featuring a Buddy Back up Style of shoot. Matt and Brandy Napoli of Oak Tree Gun Club both shot with their Dad John and both teams tied for High Overall with 49/50 each!!! After two even rounds in the shoot off both kids decided to give Dad a break and go solo. Matt came out the victor and Brandy was runner-up.

    Sunday youth from Santa Ynez Sportmens Association, Oak Tree Gun Club, Panorama Sportsmen Club and P2K ( San Diego) competed for honors in a 100 bird singles race.

    Taking top honors in the Rookie division was Santa Ynez Shooter Gillian Wilks and Derek Clark of Oak Tree was 2nd place Rookie. Miles Gaylord of Santa Ynez took home the 3rd place buckle.

    Christopher Jensen of Oak Tree was High Gun for the Intermediate Entry catagory and 2nd and 3rd went to Floyd Rieger of Panorama and Matthew Stahl of Santa Ynez respectivley.

    In the Intermediate Advanced Divsion, Jason David of Panorama was top shooter, Oak Tree Shooter Tanner Cheung was 2nd and Griffin Freitas also of Oak Tree was 3rd.

    Justin Mortensen took the Junior Varsity buckle home for Santa Ynez. Teammate Trey Mercado took home 2nd place honors and Garrett Keizer of Oak Tree was 3rd palce.

    After a shoot off for top Varsity honors with 98's, Santa Ynez shooters Anthony Holmes and Wyatt Caldera came out 1st and 2nd respectivly with fellow Santa Ynez Shooter Jackson Tomasini in 3rd for a club sweep in that division.

    Lady honors were taken by Oak Tree shooters Brandy Napoli and Danielle Nicovich with a 94 and 92 in that order.

    Sweeping the High Gun awards was Oak tree with Logan Mountain and Danny Evans both breaking 99. After two perfect rounds in the shoot off both shooters opted to step back to the 27 yard line. Logan came out the winner and Danny took home the Runner-Up buckle.

    Santa Ynez Team took Hi Team Awrds with a total of 486 with Oak Tree on their heels with a 2nd place finsh of 481.

    Shooters for Santa Ynez were Anthony Holmes(98), Wyatt Caledra(98), Jackson Tomasini (97), Justin Mortensen(97) and Trey Mercado (95).

    Shooters for Oak Tree were, Logan Mountain (99), Danny Evans (99), Matt Napoli (95), Brandy Napoli (94), and Garrett Keizer(94)



    This shoot was dedicated to the memory of long time club member Bob Musgrove.
    Bob was a great supporter of the youth program at Santa Ynez and it was an honor to dedicate this event in his name.
    The Coaches and kids presented Bob's wife,Sherrie Musgrove with comemerative buckle from the shoot .

    Congratulations to all the youth shooters and good luck at the state shoot!!!

    Great weather both days and a beautiful view. Wish I could have seen the Sunday shooting. Sounds like the kids put on a pretty good show.

    Thanks to Charlie for putting on a great shoot and to all the Santa Ynez members who helped.
