If it were tax deductible dont you think that your own shooting could be tax deductible as well?

It only depends on howl the contributions are made and to whom. As an example the Sacramento Trapshooting Club hold a 501 C3 Charitable designation. One of the reasons we were able to obtain it was because of our entroductory Junion, Womens and entry level programs. I would believe a lot of membership owned clubs around the country have this designation. The ATA does. Dues are not
tax deductable but contributions to programs etc. are. - Jim Elliott

Last year I looked at Charitable Designation for clubs, as I wanted to see how hard it was to implement. We are moving to a new property and may find it too our benefit to go that route.

I looked at Federal laws and the laws of various states.

All fine and good and the laws were clear, but when I looked at various club websites that boosted of such a designation, as to see how they were handling it, their writings and activities for the most part did not come close to what the law stated.

Maybe the webmaster for the clubs had it wrong on the information posted on the operation of the club and what was offered to members and non-members alike, but maybe not...
