I know this may sound silly to some folks,...but....if/can a gunsmith polish out scratching/marring on a monobloc and will this cause a loose fit between receiver and barrel ?

It depends on how deep and where they are. Where are your scratches? A little more information would help or a picture.

I realize it's mostly cosmetic, but I'm planning to bring the barrels to Briley for a choke job/tubes and I thought they could polish out the momobloc while it was there, maybe just remove the jewelling all together, or will this affect the fit to the receiver.
